The Real Housewives of New Jersey is all about family drama, and no one knows that better than Teresa Giudice and Kathy Wakile. RHONJ fans have seen these cousins experience many ups and downs over the years, culminating in what appeared to be a final cooling of their relationship in Season 7.
Kathy gave us an update on her relationship with Teresa when she recently stopped by The Daily Dish HQ to prepare her signature Strawberry Shortcake Cream Puffs infused with Seagream's Escapes Strawberry Daiquiri (clip below). "At this point, there really isn't any relationship," Kathy told The Daily Dish. "And I keep so busy with my family, with my kids. When you have adult kids, it's not like when they're younger and you schedule their day. Their day is scheduled, and then you schedule your day around when you're gonna see your kids. So with our travel schedule, our pizzeria that we opened up, the restaurant keeps us busy, there really isn't any time for anything else."
Melissa had a similar update on the status of her and Teresa's relationship with Kathy and her sister Rosie Pierri when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in November. "We don't see them too much anymore, honestly," she said.
Speaking of her restaurant, Pizza Love, Kathy wants to make it clear that its opening didn't cause any competition between her, Teresa, Melissa, and Joe Gorga, who also opened up their own eatery in New Jersey, Gorga's Homemade Pasta & Pizza, in 2017 before deciding to close it to "regroup" and "relocate" earlier this year, Melissa told The Morning Breath in January. "Yeah, there's no competition at all," Kathy said. "There is nothing to make of it, actually."
Kathy isn't exactly optimistic about anything changing in her relationship with Teresa in the future. "I think that I've tried as much as I can, and at this point, I'm so fulfilled and so happy with my life that anybody would want to be in my life, and I'm not chasing anything," she said.
Kathy still sees several other Garden State gals, however, including Jacqueline Laurita, Caroline Manzo, Dolores Catania, and Margaret Josephs. She even keeps in touch with Housewives from other cities, including Jill Zarin, Cynthia Bailey, Marysol Patton, and Luann de Lesseps, as well as Flipping Out's Jenni Pulos.
But of course, Kathy is still all about her famiglia these days as she, husband Rich Wakile, daughter Victoria Wakile, and son Joseph Wakile all live under the same roof in New Jersey. "My kids have been just living and doing really great and traveling. They're still both in school. Joseph is actually working at Barneys New York, and Victoria's still in nursing school. We travel together, we spend a lot of time together still, and they're adults living their lives and they're having a great time, and we're happy to grab any time that we can with them still. I know some people would think that's a little much, overprotective mom, but now it's like they're our best friends and they're adults. We've raised these wonderful human beings. Who wouldn't want to spend time with them?" Kathy shared. "And Rosie's doing great, my mom [Maria Pierri] is doing great. Rosie just opened up her own business [doing woodworking and store fixtures], and she's doing really, really wonderful, and she's happy. Life is good."
Now when Kathy looks back on RHONJ, she does so without regret. "Being on The Real Housewives, it puts a microscope on your life, and you get to watch things and see what you did and what you didn't do. And I think living your truth and who you are authentically resonates with people. And so I don't think I have any regrets," she explained. "Maybe I would have spoken up a little bit more. But you know what, it's OK. I know what my truth is. People that really know me know who I am because I really stayed true to who I am. And that's really important so I could live life and say I don't regret anything."
